What is a Small Group?
A small group is a place for people to love and be loved, support one another, and encourage and be encouraged, as they seek to learn more about God and his love for them and the people around them. We seek to grow together in love for God, his Word, his people, and his purposes.

That seems like a big mission.

How do we work towards that mission?
Our small groups incorporate elements of Bible study, community, worship and prayer, and outreach. Each week, a small group meets to dig into a passage of Scripture, expecting the Word to impact our lives. We seek to create a community with Christ in common and Christ at the center. Ultimately, we know that God is in control, so we live lives of prayer and worship, asking him to be transforming us and using us as agents of transformation on campus. Christ calls us to share his love with the world, and so our small groups are a place where people can be filled up as they go out into campus to show his love. We want to serve God and our campus together, seeing Jesus transform lives and renew our campus.

That’s great, but...

Why should I join a Small Group?
Madison is a giant campus where you can become just a face in a crowd, but in a small group, you can experience authentic relationships -- where you can be real about who you are and where you’re at – and redemptive relationships – relationships that push you towards Christ and becoming more like him. No matter how long or short you’ve been following Christ, we can’t do it on our own. With many things pulling for our attention on campus, small groups help keep you focused on God and his role in your life. We were created for community, to have people around us with the same mission keeping us accountable and helping us grow. So come to a small group and check it out!

OK, now...

How do I join a Small Group?
Pick a night and a location and show up! It’s a simple as that. Figure out which night of the week, Monday through Wednesday, will work best for you consistently. Our vision for community within small groups involves a effort from members to come as consistently as possible and build relationships with a small group of people. Our small groups are held in Sullivan Hall in the Lakeshore dorm area on the west side, and in Witte Hall on the east side of campus. Just show up at the time and location listed on the website on whichever night works for you. Feel free to email a small group leader beforehand, or one of the small group shepherds (Erin Coutts or Elzan Godlewski) can also help plug you in to a small group.

We want to see lives transformed, our campus renewed, and world changers developed, and we want to help you find your role in God’s plan to see that vision become a reality.
